The Bad News

Unfortunately, this past week has been very rough for my partner, Yossarian the Assyrian. If you're following him or friends with him, you may have heard or read that he is stepping back from Hotline Miami and from Steam and Discord in general.

Yoss is very busy man with a full time job and a lot of stress, ultimately, he doesn't have the time or the energy at the end of the day to work on The Miami Horror. Completely understandable, and not unexpected.

I think most of you can already guess where this is going.

What Does This Mean For The Project?

As I understand, Yoss will still be helping with some of the more clerical aspects of the mod-- contacting artists and such. However, he is no longer able to work on key aspects of the mod like level design and art.

In essence, The Miami Horror is now a one man show, and that man is me.

I am also a busy person, and The Miami Horror is no small undertaking. It is now September and the amount of time the mod is going to take has increased. The Miami Horror is not the only project I'm working on or interested in working on, and there's still plenty more on my plate from just my half of the project alone.

I'll be reaching out to some of my friends and seeing if I can start to split up some of the spriting load so I can work more freely on programming and level design.

Does This Mean That MH Will Be Delayed??!?!?!?

In a word, "probably". I'm not going to say definitively yes or no, but there's a good chance that it will be. It all comes down to how long finishing the few remaining major gameplay structures take and how quickly the campaign gets finished.

If it does get delayed, our next best release date will be December, around Christmas time.

Conclusion

That's pretty much it. I don't have much else to add. Expect a new video soon showing off the changes from the demo version to the full version, and maybe some other reports on technical changes I guess. I'll keep you all posted.

If you have a steam account, I'd thoroughly recommend you join the Miami Horror steam group to make sure you get every piece of news as it happens: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/TheMiamiHorror#

Well, take your time with this! A one-man show is tough, but not impossible to take on. I look forwards to playing this, whenever it may release!

so Miami Horror will just be a demo forever ? :(

No! The mod will still be completed, just probably not in October. Right now we're looking at Christmas as our backup release date, and I think I should be able to make that date if I don't goof around too much. :)
